Adventure

Each day is a blessing and adventure. I have been enjoying telling a few people everyday our exciting news. I still have no idea when or how I am telling my students at school. :) It should be interesting to hear their reactions.

Yesterday I bought my first maternity clothes (thanks Renee' for the Target gift card)! I am not quite ready to make the change, but I don't think it is too far away. I had some fun at a maternity shop in LR with my sister. They had a fake pregnant belly that you could put on to see what the clothes are supposed to look like with a bump! I took a picture with my phone and sent it to Geoff! :) I thought it was pretty funny!

I am reminded everyday how very blessed I am. I am going to enjoy every minute of this pregnancy!

Up early

I am up early again, so I thought I would write this morning. I can't seem to sleep past 6:30 recently. I told this to someone, and they said that was the Lord getting me ready for what is to come! I have been feeling pretty good. I get to feeling sick the minute I feel hungry, but I know it could be much worse. I feel very lucky!

Today we will go to church and tell a few more people. I am looking forward to telling our pastor the most! In Conway word travels fast, so I figure everyone will know by the time I have to go back to work on January 5th! :)

I am doing a children's sermon today about God's promises. As God has promised, peace has arrived with an infant child. May the peace of Christ be with you.

Delivering the News

It has been a fun couple of days letting people know that we are expecting - especially those who had given up on the idea. :)

After dinner on Christmas Eve, we had my mom open a present containing this frame.

On Christmas morning, we teamed up with Kelly (Krista's sister) and her husband Travis to deliver the double-whammy news to Krista's parents. We used the same picture and frame as above but it was bundled with the same frame and a picture of Kelly. The frames were wrapped in bubble wrap and tape - inside a box which was, well, wrapped in bubble wrap in tape - surrounded by packing material and in a bigger box secured firmly with more tape. :)

We condensed the 8 minutes it took to unwrap and comprehend the pictures into the below 4-minute video:

We made some other phone calls as well as showing the pictures to Krista's grandparents that now live in Conway. Grandma has a great reaction which we'll post later.

By the way, Krista and Kelly will freely admit to the cheesiness of their matching pictures and outfits in the frames. :-)

Please pray for us throughout the pregnancy. At nine weeks nothing is a guarantee, but we are trusting God.

9 weeks and counting

Yesterday was a wonderful day! We reached 9 weeks and decided it was time to share our news. It is so hard for me to keep a secret! We found out we were pregnant on November 21st which was right before we left for NYC (more on that in a later post). We had planned to wait to tell everyone until the end of the first trimester, but we could not pass up the opportunity to make Christmas so special!

We had planned on keeping the secret from everyone until Christmas. However, one evening my sister called to share the good news that she was pregnant!!!! One way or another the secret to her was broken and a plan for the announcement (and double announcement) was conceived!

We decided to tell Geoff's parents on Christmas Eve after our family dinner and my parents with my sister on Christmas Day! We bought frames that said "Grandma's Little Present" and placed a picture of me in front of our tree pointing at my belly (the same in my sister's frame!). I think we caught the Ryken family off-guard and the reactions are priceless to me (YouTube video coming soon!).

My mom opened up two frames of my sister and I, and we were afraid she might split a stitch from her recent surgery. You can probably imagine her reaction(this one is YouTube worthy as well)! It was pretty exciting at the Cunningham house!

Geoff and I spent the rest of the afternoon calling friends and family and finally sharing our blessing with the world!

This blog is the next step in telling others about our gift from God. After a long wait, we were blessed to become pregnant, and now what a blessing it is to share that good news!
